Trandumvej 6, 7620 Fjaltring · a former dairy
Two rooms, one knitting machine, a wash line that faces the North Sea, and three people who have been doing this since 2009.
We make twelve things,
and then we make them again.
The front room holds the knitting machine, the linking table and the yarn shelf. The back room was the dairy’s cold store and is now where things are washed, measured and folded. The line outside takes about forty pieces, which is why we post on Thursdays and not whenever we like.
Nothing is sent out to be finished somewhere else and nothing is drop-shipped from a warehouse we have never stood in. The furthest a Hvidemose piece travels before it reaches you is the 40 km from the spinning mill in Herning.
Out of roughly nine hundred who have bought at all. That is the only number about ourselves that we keep.
The first jumper came for our eldest in 2017 and it is now on the third boy in the family. The cuffs have been let down twice and you cannot see where.

I sent a felted cardigan back expecting to be told it was my own fault. It came home re-knitted across the shoulder, no charge, with a note about which programme to use.
Katrine Dahl · Holstebro · buying since 2020
They told me not to buy the second set because my daughter would be out of that size by spring. Nobody in a shop has ever talked me out of anything before.
Peter Sønderby · Struer · buying since 2022
Every line above is from a letter or an email, printed with permission and with nothing cut out of the middle.
Three people
Maren Bjerregaard started at a kitchen table two kilometres from here in 2009, cutting and grading every pattern herself. She still draws the blocks, answers the sizing letters and decides what the twelve pieces are.
Oluf Kvist has run the knitting machine for fourteen years. He finishes four cardigans in a working day and refuses the fifth, which is the single most expensive decision in the business and the reason nothing comes back misshapen.
Sigrid Thamdrup washes, measures and folds everything, and spends Tuesdays mending pieces that other families send back. She has re-knitted jumpers older than her own children.
Thursday to Saturday, 10 to 4, all year. The twelve pieces hang on one rail in the front room and you are welcome to put your child into any of them. There is coffee and there is a floor to crawl on.
